Obtaining Your Concealed Carry Permit

If you are former or retired military, Florida law does not require you to take any sort of class to receive your Concealed Carry Weapon Permit.
All you must do is obtain the application, fill it out completely, provide a copy of your DD214 discharge (Florida law requires it be an Honorable Discharge), obtain two passport style photographs which can be made at Walgreen’s or CVS, get fingerprinted either electronically or inked.
Send a cashier’s check, money order or a certified check with the application and sit back and wait.

By Florida State law, the state must either mail your permit to you or notify you of issues with your application WITHIN 90 DAYS! This applies to civilians as well.

Florida considers “itself” a “Shall Issue” state. What that means is simple.
The Florida State Constitution recognizes the Second Amendment of our country as applying to the private citizen, therefore it MUST ISSUE a permit to a legal resident of the State of Florida. Non-residents of Florida may also obtain a “C.C.W.P.” although it is slightly more involved.

There are just a few restrictions however and they make sense. These restrictions WILL PREVENT YOU from obtaining your permit.
If you have ever been convicted of a felony you will not receive your permit.
If you have ever had the provisions of the Baker Act enacted against you your permit will be denied.
If you have ever voluntarily placed yourself into the care of an institution for
“Mental Issues”, whatever they were, you will not receive your permit.
Do not think the state will not discover any improprieties, they will investigate your background THOROUGHLY !
